Sweet-and-Sour Green Beans

This is based on a recipe from the Tractor Supply “Out Here” Cookbook.


2 lbs. fresh green beans
3 medium green onions, sliced
6 bacon slices
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup red wine vinegar




Trim beans and slice if preferred.

Cook beans in boiling salted water to cover for 9 to 11 minutes or until just crisp, but tender. Drain.

Plunge into salted ice water. Drain.

Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium high heat 5 or 6 minutes until crisp. Remove bacon slices and drain on paper towels, reserving 1 Tbsp. bacon grease in skillet. Crumble bacon.

Stir in brown sugar and vinegar and sliced onions. Cook 5 minutes until onions soften and sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally.

Add beans and bacon to skillet, tossing to coat. Cook 2 minutes or until thoroughly heated.
